Personally, I know that I have difficulty getting off my phone sometimes and it can be frustrating when my mind wants me to be productive but my body is stuck scrolling through tiktoks. I tend to go on my phone when I’m stressed and need to be away from work and life for a while, but I promise you there are so many better things to do to keep our mind and body sharp and our heart content! Here are some ideas for the next time you don’t know what to do but know that you don’t want to be on social media:
- Read a book
- Go to the beach- even if it’s too cold to get out of the car
- Call a family member
- Facetime a friend
- Stretch
- Meditate
- Workout
- Take a walk
- Play with your pet
- Do a puzzle
- Grab coffee or food with a friend
- Put on music and just sing or dance
- Do a paint by number (for those of us with little artistic abilities)
- Journal
- Rearrange your room
- Write a letter to someone
- Throw a football or frisbee with a friend
- Bake or cook a special treat
- Make a string bracelet
- Garden
- Sit outside
- Nap (there’s no shame in it- sometimes your body needs to refuel!)
- Paint your nails
- Go biking
- Go shopping
- Have a lil spa day for yourself
- Go through your closet + donate
- Visit your grandparents
- Go to a religious ceremony (if applicable)
- Go swimming
- Volunteer with a local organization
- Go to the library
- Go bowling
- Pack a picnic
- Do something for yourself 🙂
